Digital Device & Innovation Expo 2019

Bangladesh is at the doorsteps of a new industrial revolution. With the promise of digital Bangladesh now a reality, ICT products and services have appeared to be one of the most lucrative additions to the country’s overall export basket. In fact, due to the positive interventions made by the visionary leadership of the current government and the introduction of critical regulatory and financial incentives to increase investment in the ICT sector, Bangladesh is fast emerging as a priority destination for the regional and global players of the technology industry. With the primary foundation completed and bolstered, now it’s time to take the ICT industry to its new level of competitiveness and enhance export earnings. To do so, we need to demonstrate the innovations and best practices invented by our local firms and attract a huge number of local and foreign investments. With the view to taking the ICT industry to its cherished next level, the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh, Bangladesh High-Tech Park Authority, Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) along with Startup Bangladesh are going to organize a groundbreaking ICT exhibition titled ‘Digital Device & Innovation Expo 2019’. The event would be supported jointly by the Department of ICT; a2i project; Ministry of Education, Office of the Controller of Certifying Authorities; Department of Agricultural Extension of the GoB and Bangladesh Computer Council in association with Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS); Bangladesh Association of Call Center & Outsourcing (BACCO); Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB); Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum (BIIF) and CTO Forum Bangladesh. The expo is scheduled to be held from October 14-16, 2019 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.

With the theme ‘Made in Bangladesh: nothing is impossible,’ the 3-day-long expo would bring together all the stakeholders related to the ICT industry under one roof while showcasing the country’s success stories in producing state-of-the-art ICT products and services to the global audience. A large number of local and foreign investors is expected to participate at the show where they can see and experience the local innovations, especially the hardware products up close and personal paving the way of both new investment and export leads in the sector. The success story of the 10 years of digital Bangladesh would be highlighted during the event through a number of seminars and breakout sessions.

Almost all the major ICT products and service manufacturing companies from the country will participate at the event including big names as Walton, Samsung, Symphony, Telephone Shilpa Sangstha, Tecno Mobile, Vivo, LG, Nitol and Aamra. The participants will showcase their services and products related to original equipment manufacturing (OEM), security and surveillance, enterprise solutions, telecom, cloud computing, government services, gaming and many more.

The A2I Innovation Lab of the GoB will demonstrate its range of tech-based initiatives in the fields of agriculture, employment, environment, women empowerment, health, law, tourism and so on. While showcasing the wares of the local firms and entrepreneurs, the participation from the tech-savvy youth of the country will be equally encouraged during the expo.

Activation programs will be conducted in a number of educational institutions, where the students would get the opportunity to pitch their products. The 30 best innovations selected from the activation programs will be showcased during the expo and the top 10 young innovators will be awarded with the Bangabandhu Innovation Grant (BIG) upon completion of the exhibition.

Alongside the activation programs on educational campus, promotion in the form of television and radio commercials, billboards, road-shows and social media campaign would be conducted to reach the maximum audience globally. A spirited official theme song of the event composed and sung by the leading artists of the country has already been created. An official website & apps of the event will feature all sorts of information and updates relevant to the event. To top the cherry, participants at the expo would be able to submit their names for a possible voyage to the Mars sometime in the future!

The Digital Device & Innovation Expo, 2019 expects to initiate a new era in the ICT industry of Bangladesh. While gathering a huge number of domestic and international stakeholders, policymakers and experts under one roof, the expo is set to achieve a number of goals in business terms. The intensive activation program conducted on educational campuses, print, and electronic media will create massive awareness among people from across the country, especially the youth about the benefits of digital living and where to get the relevant services. The expo will promote ICT, telco and electronics manufacturers from Bangladesh at their best to the global audience facilitating accelerated growth through new foreign direct investment and increased export earnings, leading to better employment opportunities for the youth of the country. Finally, it will create a common platform for all the ICT related stakeholders in Bangladesh where they can come back for effective communication and push boundaries to get to the next era of digital Bangladesh.
